Dulwich Village, Southwark
Dulwich Village is popular for its art gallery, prestigious schools, its idyllic park, a golf course, and a high street with picturesque shops and pubs. The name Dulwich (Dilwihs), meaning ‘Marshy Meadow, Where Dill Grows’ was first recorded in 967 AD. Walking around Dulwich is like stepping back into the 18th century and yet it is only five miles from the city of London. Green spaces, independent shops and a glorious village have made the south east London enclave one of the capital’s most popular place to live. Dulwich has lots of beautiful Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian family homes, as well as homes from the 1920’s and 1930’s. Over the years, many famous people have had houses in Dulwich, Charles Dickens, Margaret Thatcher, Tom Cruise, Michael Caine to name a few.
